CLASSES FOR CARE HOMES & DAY CENTRES
"Making exercise accessible for everyone"
At 1st Step we work with community centres, retirement villages and care homes to create exercise classes that will support the needs of your clients.
A regular exercise programme has wide-ranging benefits, helping service users to remain mobile and to manage activities such as getting dressed, walking unaided and maintaining as much independence as possible. Targeted exercises, especially resistance exercises, can also significantly reduce frailty and improve physical and mental well-being.
Over the weeks, participants grow in confidence as they master new moves to improve their agility and strengthen their muscles,
We visit retirement villages, care homes and day centres across Milton Keynes and the surrounding area, including Bletchley, Fenny Stratford, Stony Stratford and Newport Pagnell.

WHY CHOOSE 1ST STEP?
Before setting up 1st Step, Kamal worked for ten years as a Rehabilitation Assistant in the NHS, including three years in the busy A&E department at Milton Keynes Hospital.
During her time there, Kamal realised the importance of ongoing exercise programmes for the elderly, and how exercise can help maintain mobility, reduce the risk of falls and help to prevent hospital admissions and maintain independence.
As a result, Kamal’s classes are tailor made to the needs of your clients. She focuses on what they are able to do and week by week will build their strength and confidence.

Kamal has been leading a weekly seated exercise class at the Brooklands Day Centre for three years. The class is very popular, catering as it does for a wide range of physical abilities. Kamal makes the whole experience very enjoyable and motivating by using a varied exercise programme and always delivering it in her friendly and relaxed manner which puts everyone at ease.
Phil & Pat Mountford
As an eighty four year old who has exercised daily, either by swimming, yoga or simple exercises, I have found Kam’s routines rewarding, highly beneficial and thoroughly entertaining and so much fun to be part of. Her seated exercise classes have, apart from providing much needed exercise, lightened the whole experience to such an extent as to make me eagerly await her next session.
