We are certainly heading towards spring now. The days are getting lighter and longer. I cannot believe how quickly the year has gone already.
This last month I have focused in on a few health conditions that really need the exercise and benefit endlessly from it. I wanted to highlight one of these conditions in this newsletter.

FACT about the condition MS (multiple sclerosis) and exercise!
If you don't know much about MS, it tends to be diagnosed around the age of 40 mostly in women and it is a progressive neurological condition. People live with MS for a long time and exercise with MS needs specialist understanding.
So here is a fact:
Sensitivity to heat affects around 60 to 80% of all MS sufferers. The ability to feel hot and cold and regulating it internally is impaired. How does that effect them while exercising? I have to avoid getting my clients too hot during exercise and pushing them too far as it may make their symptoms worse. This also goes for when the weather is very warm like the 40 degrees we had last year. Same applies for when they feel very cold too. If not careful they can really hurt themselves with temperature extremes they cannot regulate
So how does exercise help?
Guided exercise will keep balance and coordination going not to mention strength and flexibility. There is also a psychological and social support factor when training with someone/or in a class setting. There are many benefits that outweigh the negatives. You just need to know how.
