T'is The Season to be Jolly
The year is drawing to an end and Christmas songs are playing everywhere! At this time of year, I always find myself reviewing the year, and looking ahead to the new one.
This year has been a funny old one hasn't it, with both challenges and successes, but I'm now looking forward to 2023. I will be bringing you some exciting news about the Get Moving Membership programme. Keep your eyes peeled to find out about the new additions and exercise options.
It might not quite be Christmas, but let's talk new year's resolutions!
Christmas can easily become a time of over-indulgence and we look forward to the new year to get back into shape with new, healthy habits. We want to help you achieve your health goals, and here are some considerations when setting yourself goals that will give you a greater chance of success 👇🏻
Start with a goal that is relevant and give it a number; for example, "I want to walk for 10 minutes without stopping." Often the goals we set are unrealistic, which makes them much more unlikely to be sustained in the long run.
Be consistent, even if it means starting really small. It is far more beneficial to start somewhere as opposed to not doing anything at all
Keep a record of your success; it will help you to keep going, especially when motivation may be low
Be patient and persevere. Achieving anything in life, particularly getting in a good shape requires time, and you need to allow for this
Surround yourself with people who share this common goal. This will be a great opportunity to share your good days as well as down days and is where groups like the 1st Step classes and memberships come into their own.

Put your workout clothes on when you are going to exercise - Don’t think about it too much, just put them on and start exercising.
Variety, variety, variety - Exercise doesn’t have to be one type of exercise alone. Change it up; walking, gardening, running or dancing.
Surround yourself with motivation - Motivational music that is sure to get you moving or people who will encourage you to move.
Plan your workouts and put them in your diary - We all attend any meeting we schedule and would never dream of cancelling. Treat your workout with the same type of mindset.
